Day 2

Today started out early with the wake up tones going off at 6:00 am. A few of us seized the day by getting up and running a few miles in the Guatemalan smog.  We all met at Starbucks before leaving for the academy.  Today was the first day of teaching for the “A” team.  We gave a class over First due Engine crew ops. Clay started the class by giving a talk, explaining why we were in Guatemala.  He stated that it was the generous giving of our supporters that allowed us the opportunity to train and share with them.  There were about 40 firefighters in the class today.  Julian, Jim, Clay, Bryan and myself made up the A team.  Everyone did a great job of teaching and the firefighters seemed to be very interested in the class. We wrapped up the first day of teaching at about 3:30 this afternoon and spent some time hanging out with the guys and planning the next day.  Went to the store to get food for the next couple of days, got ready for dinner and went to eat at an amazing restaurant.  Lan lead us in a devotional before bed, we will now lay our heads down while the Guatemalan traffic lulls us to sleep.

Chase I am excited for your involvement in this mission. God bless you.

  2. Please look for señor Ed. I know he feels all alone wherever he may be. He brought such joy to the kids and to all of us when we were there. How hard could it be to find a lost horse? Wish I was there, be safe! Julio (Julian) , how are you holding up? Don’t forget – muy importante…it goes in the trash can next to you.
